The Domain of Manapan
y Listed historical monument, La Villa des Brises is a manor house reflecting the Creole bourgeois lifestyle of the family who owned the Domain, the Payets. In the late nineteenth century, in 1887, their ancestor built this beautiful mansion with an architecture so typical of Reunion, with its veranda and valances.
The daily visits will allow you to discover yesteryear’s life on this working farm, in the house itself but also in its outbuildings, gardens, chapel, and, to taste local products in our shop .
To taste the specialties of the region (before the morning tour or after the visit of the afternoon), you can reserve (48 hours in advance) tasting plates:
• Plateau péi: a selection of local products and fresh drinks: 8 € / person.
• Plateau Grand Cru: tasting of the famous Bourbon Pointu coffee and award-winning local products: 12 € / person.
The Little Turmeric Loop
Follow our local guide for a country walk on the path of Rond, in the heights of St Joseph. He will tell you the story of the village of La Plaine des Grègues and introduce you to the agricultural activities of the region, including the iconic turmeric cultivation, called "Safran péi" (local saffron) as you walk through the processing workshop and the House of Turmeric (with a tasting of turmeric products). You will no doubt be charmed by the typical Creole gardens that line the roads of this quiet mountain village.
The Islet of Petite Île
Exclusively at the Maison des Terroirs, take a stroll in the plantations of the area and discover the only islet of Reunion which gave its name to Petite Île (Small Island), its stories and legends that evoke a hidden treasure ...
Go in search of the 7 wonders of the Domain de Manapany in an original treasure hunt planned for 3 people minimum, and you can win a treasure! The themes are as varied as Reunion’s flora and fauna, history, boats, religions or architecture.
The Gecko Walk
This small lizard native to Manapany invites you to discover its environment between the blue of the ocean and the green of the pandanus, on the coastal path. The old lime kiln and the landing stage will no longer have secrets for you, and how about singing some Creole songs while you’re at it?
Gourmet stops can be arranged (upon prior reservation) throughout the tour of the gardens of the estate, around 5 local products: geranium jelly, lemongrass jelly, pink peppercorn honey, turmeric syrup and a surprise product.
